History
QC Data was founded in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1977 as a small privately held company, providing well log digitizing services to the oil and gas industry. Over the years the Company further expanded its service offering creating the largest data bank of private and public oil and gas production data for the entire Canadian Western Sedimentary Basin. Achieving the position of industry leader in Canada, the Company subsequently expanded geographically into other oil and gas market areas in the United States, the United Kingdom and Russia.
Having established a reputation as an industry leader in oil and gas data management and delivery, steps were taken to expand into the general field of geographic related data conversion, providing AM/FM/GIS services to telecommunication and utility companies and government organizations.
In 1991, QC Data was acquired by Mr. Alfred H. Balm, an entrepreneur and financier. His vision and goal was to transform QC Data from a regional, technology-driven company into an international, market-driven and technology-based company. In December 2000, the Company sold its oil and gas data division in order to focus all its resources on growing its engineering and data business providing services to telecommunications, utilities, and property management companies.
Today, QC Data’s operations in Data Services and Engineering Services span the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Canada.
